What You Need To Know About Medical Inadmissibility

If applying for Canadian Permanent Residency, you must undergo a Medical Examination prior to being granted a visa.

Medical Inadmissibility is the unfortunate instance where you or your family members have a condition that is a danger to the Canadian Public or likely to cause ‘excessive demand’ on Canadian health and social services.

In certain cases, a Medical Inadmissibility issue concerning you or a member of your family will render you and all accompanying members inadmissible to Canada.

You will need an Immigration Medical if you are applying for permanent residency in Canada or as someone who is seeking to work in the Canadian public healthcare sector.

In some cases, if you are from a designated country or have resided in a designated country, you must undergo a mandatory Medical Examination.

If you are found to have a condition that poses:

  • a danger to the public health
  • a danger to the public safety
  • excessive demands on Canadian health and social services

you may be deemed Medically Inadmissible and prevented from entering Canada.

You will be issued a removal order if you are already in Canada.

We can help you with assessing your Medical Admissibility and anything else regarding your move to Canada.
